A day of learning....

I learned some great stuff today...

Tattoo equipment comes in two forms:

1 - The cool tattooist with too much cash.

and

2 - The smart artist who wants a bang for his buck.

I originally got a cheap starter kit...
This is great for getting started & learning some technique.
My kit had 2 machines - a power supply and misc stuff for tattooing.

Today - my power supply burnt up... smelled horrible..

I looked at the tech specs for over 50 power supplies...

I learned that -

you can get the super cool buzz box that has all kinds of bells and whistles but has a short shelf life.

or

you can get the industrial grade - no nonsense brick of power..

Having only an $80.00 budget, the search was on....

$80.00 is certainly not gonna get the cool guy a sweet source of unlimited power...

But a nerd like me - it was just right....

The Mastech HY1803D-S laboratory DC Power Supply

The most used Power Supply in the worlds laboratories

$73.00 after shipping & included a foot pedal - a tattoo machine - clip cord

This bad boy is ugly & heavy...
It has current & voltage control - that is it.

The real reason that i got the Mastech is the usage life ...
More than 15 times the life span of those super cool - non geek power supplies for about half the price.

The cover-up...

Only 3 hrs & 15 mins to complete this one....
now the two major flowers on the left leg are done....
the third flower which is significantly smaller will happen in around 10 days....
It might also change it's position from the original placement
